In order to be accepted for a commission, I require a clear digital reference of your character with a front/back view (side views are required for complex designs and full body costumes). Please make sure that your reference is accurate and up to date – I will be creating your costume exactly as shown on the reference sheet. If the design must be modified/simplified to be fursuit friendly, please make those changes before applying so I can give an accurate quote. If you are unsure whether your character’s design is fursuit friendly feel free to message me and check!
I will open my quote form about a month before each commission opening. Quotes are valid for only that opening unless stated otherwise, so if you apply to a later opening you will need to get a new quote. Please note that getting a quote does not guarantee a slot!
Once commissions open, I will post a form for people to apply with their quotes. Slots will be chosen from those who apply. I keep a short queue of only 3-4 projects at a time for fast turnaround, meaning slots are very limited. This means unfortunately I cannot take every commission, but if you are not chosen you are welcome to reapply at the next opening!
Congrats! I can’t wait to bring your character to life!
To secure the spot, I will need a picture of your government-issued ID showing your legal name and date of birth to confirm you are 18 or older. All other information may be blacked out. Since I keep such a short queue I require full upfront payment for commissions. I will send an invoice, and full payment must be received within 72 hours otherwise your slot may be canceled. After payment is received, you will be officially added to my queue!
If you are commissioning a full suit, a duct tape dummy will be required.
I like to give my clients a lot of input in the building process because it’s important to me that they’re happy with the result! I send progress pictures for approval/feedback at all the major stages (building head base, patterning fur, shaving etc) and post frequent updates on my work in progress channels. I encourage clients to be clear about what they want and let me know if they want any changes during the process.
Shipping is not included in the quoted price of your commission. Once the costume is completed, shipping will be calculated and invoiced. The client is responsible for paying shipping, and clients outside the United States will be responsible for any import fees applied by their country. I require shipping insurance for the full value of all packages. Spareferret studio will not lie about the value of a package or declare it as a gift.
The wait is over – welcome to the Spareferret family! I hope you love your new costume. All costumes include a 90 day warranty (more info in my TOS under “Repairs and Warranty”). Please don’t hesitate to reach out if you need anything. I love seeing pics, if you post any pictures in your costume please feel free to tag me/send them to me!
