By agreeing to purchase a product from Spareferret Studio (the artist) and sending payment, you are indicating that you (the client) have read and agree to all of the terms outlined below. Anything agreed upon by both parties in writing, including electronically, is binding.
You must be 18 years or older to commission a costume from me. A government-issued ID is required to verify your age before commissioning me.
I require a clear reference of your character with a front and back. Side views may be required for full body costumes and/or complex designs. This does not apply to artistic liberty commissions (more info below). The character must belong to you. I do not make costumes of other people’s characters, copyrighted/IP characters, or make duplicates of previous costumes.
I will not make realistic costumes, change my style, or imitate another artist’s style. Please review my gallery before commissioning to ensure my style is what you are looking for.
Payment is accepted via Paypal or Square invoice. All quotes and payments are in USD. Shipping is not included in the price, and will be calculated and invoiced separately once the costume is completed and packaged for shipment. **International clients are responsible for currency conversion fees if applicable, and any import/customs fees applied by their country when shipping.
Payment is taken upfront in full and must be paid within 72 hours of the commission being accepted. Taking upfront payment allows me to start on the costume right away and keep turnaround fast. If the payment is not made in that time frame, I reserve the right to cancel the commission or move the project back in my queue. Work on the costume will begin once the full payment is received.
If a commission is canceled by the client, 30% of the cost is non-refundable and covers the artist’s time, research, and materials purchased even if the costume has not been started. Partial refunds requested after construction has begun will depend on the costume’s completion level. Costumes that are complete or almost complete are not eligible for any refund. I reserve the right to keep any work from a canceled commission to sell as a premade costume, which will be modified to no longer resemble your character.
I reserve the right to cancel a commission at any stage of the process if: the client is rude, threatening/dangerous, or otherwise unreasonable to work with; if the client cannot be reached or does not respond for 90 days; or if the client has otherwise broken my terms of service.
If an unexpected event such as illness, family death, natural disaster, etc. occurs that will cause significant delays or inability to finish the commission, Spareferret studio will notify the client as soon as possible and provide the option to be refunded in full or receive a partial refund plus any fully completed costume parts.
Shipping is not included in the costume’s price, and will be calculated and charged separately once the costume is completed and packaged for shipments. The cost includes shipping insurance and can vary based on the weight of the project, distance traveled, and speed of delivery.
Spareferret Studio reserves the right to select what shipping carrier is used. Once the package is shipped, I am not responsible for loss or damage caused by the shipping carrier. In the event of a lost or damaged package, please contact me immediately and photograph any and all damage the moment the package arrives so I can file a claim.
Customs fees for international clients are the buyer’s responsibility and can be very expensive. Costumes shipped outside of the United States will be marked as their full value. The package will not be marked under value or as a gift for any reason.
I am happy to work with you in designing a character for your costume! Custom designs will be made on my premade line art. Designs will be approved with the client before work begins. I will ask for a species, gender, and color palette at the minimum but please provide more info if you have something specific in mind.
I follow the character reference closely – please ensure your reference is accurate and you are happy with the design before ordering. This includes simplifying a design to be fursuit-friendly. I am not responsible for including anything that is not present on the agreed concept art. Once your commission has been accepted and payment has been made, I reserve the right to decline any changes to the design. Any accepted changes to the design may be subject to a fee at the artist’s discretion. Changes include but are not limited to colors or markings, fabric/materials used, additions such as horns/removable eyelids, etc.
Any additions to the original agreed upon purchase (example: an extra set of paws) made after the initial payment will be treated as a separate commission.
All costumes include a three month warranty from the time of shipping. This warranty includes artist errors such as holes, fitting issues, or adhesive failure. Photo documentation will be required for any warranty claims. Repairs covered under the warranty are free, but the client must pay for shipping both ways. Please reach out to me before shipping a costume back.
The warranty does NOT include damage due to poor costume care, negligence, accidents, or intentional abuse; damage caused by the shipping carrier; fitting issues due to change in client’s proportions or incorrectly given measurements; normal wear and tear; or aesthetic changes such as modifying the character’s markings. I reserve the right to refuse repairs to a costume whose damages fall outside my warranty. Repairs outside the warranty or after the warranty has expired may be offered at the artist’s discretion, but at an additional fee.
Clients are required to thoroughly clean the costume before sending it for repairs. Failure to properly clean your suit may result in your package being sent back without repairs being done.
Modifications, alterations, or repairs done to the costume by someone other than Spareferret Studio will void your warranty. The warranty is only valid for the client who originally purchased/commissioned the costume and is void if the costume is resold.
I will send frequent progress pictures as work is done on your costume. I post most days on my public instagram channel and telegram channel, and pictures can be sent directly to the client as well.
It is the responsibility of the client to pay close attention to progress shots, and if you would like something changed it is important to point it out as soon as you see it. If the change should have been made at an earlier stage, waiting to mention it will result in more time and labor to fix it and may incur additional fees. I want to ensure that you are happy with your costume and I need honest feedback so I can make it happen! I work quickly and strive for a fast turnaround, meaning prompt responses are appreciated.
Wearing a fursuit can limit vision and can cause overheating due to the extra layers and decreased ventilation. Please make sure to hydrate and take breaks while wearing your costume, and be aware of symptoms of overheating. Spareferret Studio is not liable for any injuries or bodily harm that occur while using our products.
Allergy notice: I work from home and own a dog, and therefore cannot guarantee my costumes are dog allergen free. If you have a severe dog allergy please consider this before commissioning me.
I reserve the right to photograph, record video of, and share my costume work on my social media accounts. If you would not like images of your costume posted online or you would not like to be tagged in pictures of your suit, please let me know upfront.
